The Promise of the Father:  The Holy Spirit and Fire

In Luke 24, Jesus speaks to his disciples and to us, that the promise of the father was for us. What is the Promise of the Father? The baptism in the Holy Spirit so that we could preach repentance and remission of sins in the name of Jesus to all. People need to have relationship with the Father through Jesus Christ. Relationship with God only comes through the message of Jesus Christ, which is the message of the cross. 1 Corinthians 1:18 says, “for the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.” We have life in the good news of Jesus’ shed Blood for us. Oh that we would allow the Spirit of God to empower us so that we could spread the message of the cross to those that need eternal life…

An Awesome God and Our Faith

An Awesome God and Our Faith: Taking the First Step… 2012 – a new year Moving forward together with much fruit by His Spirit
Without spot or wrinkle, through His Blood: Jesus is coming soon The Israelites and the Promised Land Israelites – had been powerfully delivered from Egypt – final came to the entrance to what God had promised Abraham 450 years earlier – the land flowing with milk and honey – the report – from 12 spies in the land flowing with milk and honey – 2 said – we have an awesome God – we can take on the giants – our God is a giant-killer and a mountain mover – 10 said – we are grasshoppers in their sight – the land devourers its occupants – the people – who saw God come against every one of the 10 gods of egypt with a plague – they saw the red sea part and walked on dry ground – they saw the mighty egyptian military destroyed in the red sea – they saw the fiery tower at night in the desert to keep them warm – they saw the cloud covering the land by day to keep them cool – they said – our God is not big enough to see us through – they wandered for 40 years – 1 year for every day the spies were in the promised land – of the 3 million people that had left egypt – only those 20 years and younger made it into the promised land – the rest died in the wilderness – but at the end of 40 years – Joshua came again to the crossing over into the promised land – across from where they were was the mighty city of Jericho – it was spring time – the Jordan during the spring flooded – it was probably around 1.5 – 2 miles wide at that point – and approx. 40ft deep – how to cross the river?
Joshua 3:1 - 17
Need to take the First Step…
Prophecy at Dedication Service 1997
If you will make this a place of praise, I will bring people from far and near. They will see My light. They will see My glory. But you must lift me up in this place; make this place a temple of worship to your God. And not only this community, but from far and wide will say, “this is the House of the Lord God.”
Need to take the first step when it comes to this prophecy:
3 things we have to do
1. – to make this a place of praise – an attitude of gratitude – there would be an expression from us
2. – to lift up Jesus – preaching the cross of Christ: there is only forgiveness in the shed blood of Christ
3. – make this a temple of worship – our choice to worship God for who He is – same God that was mighty to save the Israelites… the same God
Joh 4:23-24
3 areas we prayed and anointed this week: – 1. the men, 2. the congregation, 3. the youth Prayer – and anointing – looses yokes and lifts burdens off of shoulders
1. an anointing on the people – to release the yokes and the burdens so people can praise and worship
2. an anointing on those that lead in praise in worship – the singers, the musicians
3. an anointing on all those that support praise in worship – the technical side of things – the sound, computers, lights, cameras Tim Tebow – 2008 NCAA Football Championship – 94 million hits on google in 24hrs after the game because he had John 3:16 written under his eyes
Will we take the first steps…? Before they crossed the Jordan river… Joshua 3:5 And Joshua said to the people, “Sanctify yourselves, for tomorrow the LORD will do wonders among you.” Not looking for holy worship – but holy worshippers – holy worship is only holy as the worshipper is holy – 1Ch 16:29 Give to the LORD the glory due His name; Bring an offering, and come before Him. Oh, worship the LORD in the beauty of holiness! 2Ch 20:21 And when he had consulted with the people, he appointed those who should sing to the LORD, and who should praise the beauty of holiness, as they went out before the army and were saying: “Praise the LORD, For His mercy endures forever.” Ps 29:2 Give unto the LORD the glory due to His name; Worship the LORD in the beauty of holiness. Ps 96:9 Oh, worship the LORD in the beauty of holiness!
Tremble before Him, all the earth. – only possible if… 1. our faith is in the shed blood of Jesus Christ at the cross – and only this 2. our choice to worship – because God will not force us That God’s glory would fill us – that we could worship Him For we are the temple of God – we are the ones that should worship the Lord 1 Cor 3:16 ¶ Do you not know that you are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you? 17 If anyone defiles the temple of God, God will destroy him.
For the temple of God is holy, which temple you are. 1. an anointing on the people – to praise and worship 2. an anointing on those that lead in praise in worship – the singers, the musicians 3. an anointing on all those that support praise in worship – the technical side of things – the sound, computers, lights, cameras Before they crossed the Jordan river… Joshua 3:5 And Joshua said to the people, “Sanctify yourselves, for tomorrow the LORD will do wonders among you.” Communion… Sanctify – make clean that which has become dirty – identifying the spots and the wrinkles – only in the light of the word – can’t see in the dark “Sanctify yourselves, for tomorrow the LORD will do wonders among you.”

Theme 2012: Moving Forward

2012: Moving Forward … 2012: Moving forward together with much fruit by His Spirit
What hinders the baptism in the Holy Spirit?
1. Ignorance-not knowing that you're commanded to be filled with the Holy Spirit
2. Have the knowledge but procrastination/disobedience on our part to obedience to that command
3. If you don't want to be filled with the Holy Spirit - Jesus will never force you
4. Fear - what will happen to me?
5. Want to be filled with the Holy Spirit but don't want to speak in tongues - ridiculous!
      1 Cor. 14:18 I thank my God I speak with tongues more than you all;
6. Speaking in tongues is not for others direct benefit - it is for your direct benefit
-it is your spirit by the Holy Spirit communicating with God (1 Cor 14:14)
-it is your spirit by the Holy Spirit being made strong to overcome (1 Cor 14:4)
-it is your spirit by the Holy Spirit interceding for self and others (Rom 8:26, 27)
-it is your spirit praying by the Holy Spirit for things you cannot fathom nor understand (1 Cor 14:14,15)
-it is your spirit by the Holy Spirit increasing in faith (Jude 20)
-it is my spirit by the Holy Spirit fighting against Satan and his hoards (Eph 6:17,18)
-it is your spirit by the Holy Spirit receiving refreshing (Isaiah 28: 11,12)
-it is your spirit by the Holy Spirit receiving rest (Isaiah 28: 11,12)
-it is your spirit by the Holy Spirit worshipping and praising God (Acts 2: 11)
-speaking in tongues is just prayer in the Holy Spirit to God
So, let us seek the Baptism by our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ in the Holy Spirit as a church and as individuals. Moving forward together with much fruit by His Spirit

The Rapture and the 2nd Coming

What is the difference between the Rapture, and the 2nd coming?
The 2nd coming is judgement, and the rapture is rescue …

Listen to the tone of the writing here …

Luke 21:36 “Watch therefore, and pray always that you may be counted worthy to escape all these things that will come to pass, and to stand before the Son of Man.”

John 14:1-3 “Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me. “In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. “And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also.

Eph 5:25-27 ...25 Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself for her, 26 that He might sanctify and cleanse her with the washing of water by the word, 27 that He might present her to Himself a glorious church, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing, but that she should be holy and without blemish.

Acts 1:9-11 ...9 Now when He had spoken these things, while they watched, He was taken up, and a cloud received Him out of their sight. 10 And while they looked steadfastly toward heaven as He went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel, 11 who also said, “Men of Galilee, why do you stand gazing up into heaven? This same Jesus, who was taken up from you into heaven, will so come in like manner as you saw Him go into heaven.”

The tone in all of these scriptures is positive, encouraging and filled with promise …

Phil 3:11, 20, 21 ...11 if, by any means, I may attain to the resurrection from the dead. 20 For our citizenship is in heaven, from which we also eagerly wait for the Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, 21 who will transform our lowly body that it may be conformed to His glorious body, according to the working by which He is able even to subdue all things to Himself.

1 Cor 15:51-52 ...51 Behold, I tell you a mystery: We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed–52 in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.

1 Thes 4:13-18 ...13 But I do not want you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning those who have fallen asleep, lest you sorrow as others who have no hope. 14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with Him those who sleep in Jesus. 15 For this we say to you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive and remain until the coming of the Lord will by no means precede those who are asleep. 16 For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. 17 Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord. 18 Therefore comfort one another with these words.

2 Thes 2:.1, 7, 8 ...1 Now, brethren, concerning the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our gathering together to Him, we ask you, 7 For the mystery of lawlessness is already at work; only He who now restrains will do so until He is taken out of the way. 8 And then the lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord will consume with the breath of His mouth and destroy with the brightness of His coming.

All of these scriptures are positive … Listen to the tone of the scriptures describing the 2nd coming, at the end of the 7 year tribulation …

Dan 2:44-45 ...44 “And in the days of these kings the God of heaven will set up a kingdom which shall never be destroyed; and the kingdom shall not be left to other people; it shall break in pieces and consume all these kingdoms, and it shall stand forever. 45 “Inasmuch as you saw that the stone was cut out of the mountain without hands, and that it broke in pieces the iron, the bronze, the clay, the silver, and the gold–the great God has made known to the king what will come to pass after this. The dream is certain, and its interpretation is sure.”
